Position: Fabrication Lab Manager

We are:

A premier facility for inventors, engineers, fabricators and designers that is building our launch team now for grand opening in August 2019.

Our first location is in the heart of Oakland’s Fruitvale District, one block from BART and a few blocks from I-880.

A 7,000 square foot facility including a beautiful co-workplace Thinker Lab and Fabrication Labs stocked with several hundred thousand dollars in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment

A rapidly growing multi-site network, launching locations in Oakland and London, with immediate expansion planned
You are:
-
Skilled in digital design and fabrication with multiple mediums, and comfortable specifying tooling and materials
-
Passionate about helping others solve complex physical problems
-
Great with people, not just machines
-
Safety-minded and super organized in a production environment
-
Experienced in managing or working in shared workshop environments
-
Competent in 2D & 3D modeling software and can troubleshoot G-code
-
Excellent in equipment troubleshooting and repair
You will:

Unbox and setup tools and heavy equipment
-
Coordinate with contractors and equipment manufacturers on infrastructure specification and equipment installation

Assist workspace members in safe and proper use of woodworking, metalworking, electronics, laser cutters and 3D printers

Manage the lab facilities, take care of daily maintenance and shop organization/cleanliness
-
Keep equipment in clean, production shape, and promote their use
-
Assist workspace members in safe and proper use of woodworking, metalworking, electronics, laser cutters and 3D printers

Teach workshops and one-on-one; coordinate others teaching or training in the fabrication labs

Constantly identify solutions; constantly improve member service, satisfaction and safety
