Corbion Algae Ingredients is looking for a hands-on, experienced facilities technician with full knowledge and extensive experience in all facets of facility maintenance. Our facilities are located in South San Francisco (R&D) and Belmont (Pilot Plant). The successful candidate will report to our Lab Manager and will be responsible for all aspects relating to our facilities including repairs and maintenance in accordance with company policies, procedures and standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure optimal functioning of building systems (HVAC, fire/life safety equipment, etc.)
- Perform daily routine maintenance of utility systems in our various facilities
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to the air compressors, vacuums, process chillers, RODI water system, and UPS systems
- Oversee third-party contractors as needed
- Assist with installations when introducing new equipment from connecting power, gas, steam, air and water supplies
- Proper and safe relocation and operation of instruments as needed
- Assist with proper and safe lab chemical waste cleanup
- Troubleshoot chemical and biological hood alarms
- Troubleshoot electrical power issues in our office and lab area as needed
- Perform daily preventive maintenance to bio-chemistry analyzers, lyopholizers, and ultra-low freezers, incubators, shakers, process chillers, air compressors, dryers, and cryo cell banks storage
- Ensure building gas supplies are connected and stored properly
- Repair water, air, vacuum and gas leaks
- Serve as a primary contact person 24/7 in case of emergencies jeopardizing daily operation
- Fully trained to operate forklift, lift jacks, pallet jacks and floor lift equipment
- Schedule annual testing and certifications for biohood and chemical hood
- Schedule annual calibrations for pipettes, benchtop, and floor scales
- Help with inventory, stocking and deliveries of products to various departments.
- Help with EHS and safety inspections.
- Familiar with hazardous waste storage and disposal.
- Other duties as determined by business needs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a minimum of three years' experience in general building maintenance in a lab setting, pilot plant or similar.
- Must be familiar with general facility and laboratory safety practices.
- OSHA general industry training certificate preferred.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Must have computer skills in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, Outlook
