Hi,
Students need your help!
Laney recently had a faculty member retire and unfortunately the search for a full-time replacement didn’t find anyone yet - and so the search will continue.

But in the meantime, there are a number of classes this fall that need teachers (from Aug 22 to mid-Dec)! If we can’t find anyone, then we’ll need to cancel classes. And with the need for skilled workers out there, that would be very unfortunate.

If you have electrical or electronics experience, and would like to teach (and help out students), please contact Dean Ally Tomas (copied here). Your commitment is only for this one semester (but could be extended if you’re interested). You’ll need an associates or bachelors degree (state requirements) and work experience in the field. Note, the degree does NOT have to be in electricity or electronics, but the work experience does need to be. So if you're an English major with an electricians certification, then come on down! Electrical engineers, I know you all can still remember those basics of electricity :-) and we have a class on that you could teach.

Many of the classes are entry-level material (basic electricity, technical math for electricians) and also have classes on Solar Photovoltaic and Lighting Efficiency. Some of them are online. The table below and attached spreadsheet show the details. The one’s in yellow are the one’s that need teachers. However, if the time or days (Mon / Wed, Tues / Thurs, some just one day a week) don’t work for you, still reach out. There might be some possibility of swapping with other teachers.

WE NEED YOU!

Thanks and please reach out to Dean Tomas ASAP - atomas@peralta.edu

Regards,
Mark
