JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is expected to run manual engine lathes either as a machinist, polisher and or grinder. Duties include setting up equipment, operating equipment and inspecting finished parts. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
· Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
· Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
· Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts
· Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the
manufacturing plan
· Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
· Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
· Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
· Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop
· Must be willing to be flexible and operate various machines (grinders,
lathes, polishers).
· Must be able to use/read a manual micrometer (OD and ID).
· Must be able to use a dial indicator.
· Must be able to document starting and finishing size and finish within a
specification down to tenths (depending on the job).
· Hours are 5am to 1:30pm. We are also looking for a second shift operator.
· Saturdays and overtime are available.
· Union shop, which once joined includes Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or GED recipient. Two or more years of machining experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The employee must have the ability to write basic instructions and information.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
 
REASONING ABILITY
The employee must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The employee must maintain the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
