Tesla R&D is looking for a manual machinist in their R&D lab in Palo Alto. I spoke with their rep (Tony) and he said that while they mention 3+ years of experience for the job, they’re willing to consider those with little to no experience but that have training in strong community college programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and
skilled R&D Manual Machinist to setup up, operate, and machine complex
prototype components on manual mills, lathes, saws, and grinders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Setup up, operate, and
machine components on manual mills and lathes
- Machine tight tolerance
and critical components
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure everyone is
wearing the proper PPE and working safely
- Ensure we maintain a
clean and organized work environment
- Help engineers and
technicians with their projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of manual
machining experience
- Mastery of manual
milling and turning
- Mastery of cutting tools
- Ability to set up and
indicate complex and high tolerance fixtures

- Meticulous attention to
detail
