We are a high-end design+build studio in SF that specializes in wood and metal fabrication of furniture, sculpture and architecture for restaurant, retail, office and residential interiors in the Bay Area. We are looking for a talented, creative, experienced and highly organized individual with an eye for detail and a deep knowledge of wood and metal working to fabricate and manage the shop of our growing company. The ideal candidate:
  • has 10+/- years of wood &/or metalworking experience
  • has a creative background or has worked closely with designers, artists or architects 
  • can produce detailed shop drawings and communicate expectations clearly to others
  • wants to grow and share their knowledge with a diverse team of clients and co-workers
  • has an eye for detail and the skill to execute 
  • can prioritize tasks while managing multiple jobs simultaneously
  • positive, focused, energetic and flexible 

Responsibilities:
  • assist owner with estimating larger jobs to ensure accurate budget and schedule
  • produce shop drawings for projects, order materials and schedule fabrication and installations
  • manage schedule, budget quality control of wood and metal shop projects 
  • manage employees and subcontractors executing work for the wood shop (daily)
  • track time and accurately report expenses to bookkeeper
  • assist the Project Manager in developing schedules
  • provide weekly update on project status and % completion (weekly)
  • provide expectation to employees and subcontractors for daily work in the wood shop (daily)
  • keep wood and metal shop organized and stocked (daily)
  • train new employees on shop safety, fabrication and installation procedures 
  • provide owner with information regarding change orders for projects
  • lead the fabrication, finish, delivery and installation of all projects
  • identify and schedule repairs/maintenance for shop tools and equipment
  • assist with development and management of safety procedures within the shop and on job sites

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience furniture/cabinet making, finish carpentry or millwork professional 
  • exceptional skill with wood and metal fabrication 
  • exceptional skill with shop equipment and hand tools
  • comprehension of detailed shop drawings and layout
  • ability to lift at least 50 lbs
  • exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • professionalism, interfacing at work and with clients
  • experience with all aspects from start to finish: pre-assembly, assembly, finishing/detailing and installation

Bonus Points
  • ability to sketch and communicate quickly
  • working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup or rendering software etc…
  • knowledge and experience with hand applied finishes 
You may have additional skills and experience to offer that will make you stand out. Your background may be in sculpture, architectural fabrication, industrial design, furniture or another field. What's most important is that you are a driven and creative team member with a positive attitude and a passion for elegant solutions to unique problems.

  • Working Hours: M-F 9-6 weekdays with Saturdays and Sundays as required by workload
