LIVERMORE NATIONAL LAB TO HOLD CAREER FAIR

Want to work on the cutting edge of science and technology while staying close to home? The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is looking for local technicians, machinists, and tradespeople to attend a Career Fair on March 10 at the Robert Livermore Community Center in Livermore.

Lab recruiters expect to fill at least 80 jobs in areas such as Information Technology, Environment Safety & Health, Management & Budget, and Human Resources.

Experienced HVAC, electrical, mechanical, health and safety, and laser optics technicians, as well as electricians, drafters, system administrators, boiler mechanics and plumbers from across the Bay Area and surrounding communities are invited to attend. The fair is also open to recent graduates with some experience and students graduating with Associate Degrees from local community colleges.

"We have needs throughout our career spectrum," said Randy Pico, LLNL Engineering Directorate's senior superintendent. "We do this so rarely in our own community, so it's an incredible opportunity for people to come in and meet (recruiters) from the lab. It's a really exciting time for us. We just feel strongly that our local pipeline is ready for this."

The last such job fair occurred in 2001, Pico said.

The event runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 4444 East Ave. in Livermore.
