TITLE:                          Engineering Mechanic

DEPARTMENT:            Engineering

PLANT:                                    AB&I Foundry

REPORTS TO:              Engineering Supervisor

 

GENERAL FUNCTION

Assist Engineering Department in the installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment.

 

DUTIES

1.     3-5 years of Industrial hydraulic and pneumatic experience

2.     Welding – mig & stick

3.     Cutting with a torch

4.     Be able to use hand tools

5.     Be able to do some metal fabrication (using  shears, rolling, and manual press break)

6.     Be able to read engineering drawings.

7.     Furnishes own hand tools such as crescent wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, allen wrenches

8.     Maintains clean and orderly work area.

9.     Performs all other duties as required or directed by supervisor.

10.  Wears required personal protection equipment and follows safety rules/procedures to the letter.

11.  Demonstrates initiative and self starting ability as well as team work.

REQUIREMENTS

1.     Must wear proper PPE such as, goggles, ear plugs, ahard hat, and metal tarsal boots.
2.     Strong communication skills. 
3.     Ability to speak and understand English, so that he can communicate effectively with other departments. 
4.     Graduated from High School or equivalent.
5.     Strong math skills.
  1. Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  2. Basic knowledge of and familiarity with hand tools and power tools. 
  3. Proven track record of excellent attendance and dependability. 
  4. Proven ability to learn and to work aggressively in an efficient and effective manner. 
10.  Be able to work independently
11.  Must be dependable, detail oriented and cooperative.
12.  Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures. 

13.  Exposure to disagreeable working conditions such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, and vibration, but not continuous or excessive.

14.  Be able to drive heavy mobile equipment (fork lifts, man lifts, scissor lifts)

15.  Be able to travel when needed.

16.  Be able to adjust to a changing schedule (weekdays or weekends)

17.  Available to work overtime when needed.
