Guest speaker Tim Long’s presentation focuses on the niche field of Tower Welding and the field ser- vices that Quality Telecom provides to the wireless industry. The photos and descriptions will detail the trials and tribulations of welding while hanging off ropes at elevation. The goal is to bring skilled individuals into the field and answer questions that many have as to what it takes to be a Tower Hand and the potential rewards. Student attendance is encouraged.
Tim says -
The first time I was exposed to welding I was 5 and remember it very clearly, although I didn’t weld
myself until I was 18 I graduated from Sierra College with an AS in Welding Technology
I worked for a local Structural Steel Contractor while I attended Sierra College and a short time there-
after I started working for Quality Telecom Consultants (QTC)in 2013 as a field foreman, I am now a
CWI and Manager for the Tower Modification Department. I served on the AWS Student Board while
at Sierra and am a past chairman, I am currently the 2nd Vice Chair for the Sacramento Valley Sec-
tion. I’m 28 years old, I’m married with an awesome 1 year old baby girl. We fish, hike, camp, 4-
wheel, complete projects and stay very busy with family when I’m not working
I love welding and metal working, this is my Lifetime Career!
