Hi all,
There are still a few openings in programs at Laney’s Summer Institute. Check out:

https://laney.edu/summer/  for details.

1) Check out Sustainable Buildings (you get college credit for ECT-01 - Physics for Environmental Control Technology)

2) Also, iDesign-Skilled Trades is a 3 week program that introduces students to wood technology, carpentry, and machining.

3) Many of the introductory classes that are open to all (shown at the bottom of the website page) may also have openings.

Laney is right next to BART, so it’s easy to get to if your students can get to BART.
And if you’re not close to Laney, check out summer programs at other community college by going to:  https://bayareamanufacturingcareers.com/summer-programs.html

Regards,
Mark

LANEY SUMMER INSTITUTE

This summer the Career Education Department at Laney College (Oakland) will once again be offering a number of programs for interested high school students in the Bay Area.

The programs range from 3 to 5 weeks long and are focused on informing students about different career pathways through hands-on activities. We have “priority” programs for high school students, as well as regularly-scheduled introductory classes that, while open to all, are good entry-level classes for high school students. For the HS Priority programs, others may apply and if space is available, may be admitted. For more details and application information, visit our website at:

https://laney.edu/summer/

Also, you can come visit us at Laney’s Open House on April 27 to see our programs in person.
