Dear teachers of skilled trades and hands-on learning,
We know that many teachers are out there working hard to figure out how to teach hands-on classes to our students. Certainly teaching in person is better for much of the curriculum in our programs, and we’ll never be able to teach the full skillsets
virtually, but right now doing things virtually is what we’re given - and because of the short timeframes fate has handed us it makes sense to lean on each other to find the best approaches quickly.
So, I’ve set up a Discussion Forum where K-16 teachers of hands-on curriculum (machining, welding, electronics, CAD, industrial maintenance, robotics, etc.) can trade ideas on best practices. Go to:
I encourage you all to put in your examples of websites, learning resources, curriculum, videos, etc. that will help others teach lessons online. Just choose a Category and then click on New Topic. Also, feel free to respond to others posts with
input on what you think of the resources they’re suggesting, you’re own experiences, improvements, etc. (be civil of course :-)
Hope this is useful.
Regards,
Mark
P.S. I’ve also scheduled a weekly call where we can share experiences directly and answer questions. We did one for machining this week. But based on the first one, I think we can combine the trades together. Details below, starting next Wednesday.
