Hi all,
I have some SB1070 grant funds that I am working to spend by the end of this year. So far, I have used these funds for items such as:

1) Repair equipment at various high school machining programs (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hbDMB8uVSXebCc1IRDM5RTutL4koQTuNC00mmFA2iSM/edit#gid=1243772483)

2) Purchase Vex robotic kits to be distributed to middle and high schools

3) Run a Careers in Manufacturing Workshop for counselors & educators (to be held on Oct. 11)

4) Buses to take students to manufacturing tours

THE ASK
While I have some projects in mind to use these funds for, I’m writing to ask you for ideas as well. This is to help out high school and middle school programs with activities related to manufacturing and the skilled trades.

Give me your ideas. I can't guarantee funding, but I will try to see what ideas I can incorporate. I realize that everyone will have items that they could purchase just for their classroom but recognize I need ideas that can work across a number of schools, not just one (the logistics of trying to do small orders across a variety of different vendors is difficult).

So, for instance, maybe there are a number of schools that need help paying for entrance fees for FIRST Robotics. Or a number of shops need metal and we can do a bulk purchase order from a materials vendor, etc.

Input your ideas at:

Thanks,
Mark
