The position is .4 because enrollment is down. It could expand to full time.

The applicant does not need a bachelors degree.

The applicant will need a CTE credential or begin the process to obtain one in the first 3 years of teaching. Enrolling in the CTE credentialing program and taking the first course will generate the preliminary CTE credential required to teach.

The qualifications for a CTE credential are based on work experience, not college degree. Although, Laney's tech programs can qualify for some of the work experience.

Hello Myron,
I hope things are well with you and at Laney.
I survived my first year and it was fairly smooth.
I was hoping you could put me in touch with the instructors in Machine Tech. Our Machine Tech teacher is leaving and we have a .4 part time opening at the school.
The machine shop here is huge and has a ton of potential.
It would be great to find someone who came through Laney's program and
could help further the connection between our school and the college.

Description:

The Instructor will teach the basic principles needed for a solid foundation in Machine Tool Technology. This would include shop safety, bench work, and conventional machine tools including the drill press, engine lathe, horizontal and vertical milling machine and surface grinders. More advanced principles taught would include CNC programming and CAD/CAM use in the Machine Shop. Applicants must have evidence of mastery in these technical areas through a combination of training and/or experience.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

A Technical Diploma in Machine Tool Technology or related field OR Journey-worker’s certificate and five years of direct occupational experience. Occupational experience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the last 5 years.
Preferred Certifications
Machining Level 1 NIMS certification; applicants who do not currently have credentials will be considered provided they have the skills required to obtain them within 12 months of employment.
Certified Solid Works Associate (CSWA) is preferred.
