Hi all,I need your help. I would like to get a couple of pictures of your machine shop if you have one (manual lathes, mills, drill presses, etc. and CNC if you have them).
The reason, I got a note the other day from a high school administrator that says they’re shop is “outdated” because it has lots of manual mills & lathes in it (although it also has a couple of CNC’s). Note that all this equipment is less than 10 years old.
I think their idea of a “modern” shop is one that has laser cutters and 3D printers. I want them to understand how important manual mills & lathes are for modern manufacturing, design, and prototyping. Otherwise, they might be considering removing all their manual machines.
- If you could send a couple of pictures (a wide angle view of the shop is fine) that shows the type of equipment you use that would be helpful. I don’t need lots of pictures, just one or two. Of course, make sure you have your bosses OK, and nothing proprietary is shown.
- And a couple of sentences describing the types of products you make, along with the importance of these manual machines (and having people with the skills to run them) would be helpful.
