Subject: Request for paid participation of Laney College FabLab DFab Technician Curriculum process
Date: October 16, 2018 at 10:41:40 AM PDT

Hello Shop Leaders, in the education world we are continually trying to evolve and prepare for the future.  We are going to be hosting a DACUM (Designing a CUrriculuM) process for a new job category of Digital Fabrication Technician.  We are looking for participation from people in industry that are either on the shop floor doing the work of a "Digital Fabrication Technician" (see description below) or those supervising this work.  We request for those that are participating that they are currently employed doing this type of work full-time in order to get the best results.

This is a 2 full day commitment on Wednesday and Thursday December 12th and 13th and we need people who can commit to both days.  We can offer a $250 per day ($500 total) stipend for participation and you will be helping us define a complete skill set needed for training DFab Technicians.  We have a professional facilitator coming in from Ohio State University to perform this process and we are happy to share the completed DACUM documents.  We need a total of 10-12 participants and currently have 4 committed.  This will take place in Oakland at the Executive Suites on the Embarcadero.

If you are interested or know of someone else who would be, please fill out this very brief google form so that we can gather some basic info about you.  I will reach back out to those who submit information and follow up to gather more information for the stipend.  Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

"Digital Fabrication Technician" (1) someone who is involved with both design work and machine operation and (2) works in more than one medium to differentiate it from a machinist or wood CNC operator.

Thanks
