Marine Machinist Trainees

Bay Ship & Yacht Co., the leading shipyard on SF Bay, is seeking entry-level trainees to join our Marine Machinist team. The trainee is paid a good wage while moving through an accelerated training program with the potential to rapidly advance to journeyman level, depending on aptitude and desire to excel at a new trade.

Program summary:

 

1.    No experience required, only ambition and the ability to work productively.

2.    The trainee receives a starting wage of $18 per hour and enters an initial assessment period, followed by:

3.    An eight-week training course in marine machinist tools and skills.   

 

After the basic training program, the trainee will continue to practice new skills through on the job training working on ships in the shipyard. Once sufficiently competent in the basic skills, the trainee will return to the school for further Marine Machinist training.

 

Successful candidates can expect wages to increase up to $24 to $28 per hour in the first year if they meet the expected criteria, with future potential as a journeyman earning $30 to $35+ per hour, long term job security, excellent benefits and a great career at the leading shipyard on SF Bay.
